Day 3

Yesterday hands on on grouping of member to google.com. It is quite useful for trainees when having PBL. Trainees can interact with each other and come out their solutions. This may be one of the media for connecting them and a lot more for me to learn and explore.

Technologies may be good, can get thing done faster, but face to face interaction is getting lesser. People are communicating through e-mail even they are family or colleges just cubical beside you.
Some even become impatient during face to face communication.

Day 2

Note taking is not an easy job. Imagine you got to take down note for may 3 hour, will you miss any important point. It need collaboration to complete the task.

It need some IT gadget eg. MP3 to record for reference.
Too bad, can't record during meeting.

Our trainees are given a laptop each, are they using it for learning? No, on facebook, e-mail and gaming. Control is needed mor they will fail their test.

Day 1 of New Media Padagogy-lose in IT

Lose at the beginning of the module. But manage to catch up a bit.

New media - everything is new to me as I seldom spend my time in front of the computer.

From the introduction, I understand the important of new media and it usefulness. So far I only ventured into Wikipedia to search for information. Other than this, all are new to me.

The way this media can connect people, pass and receive information and all sort of interaction, it's marvelous.

There's a survey conducted by Nee Ann Poly found that of the 510 Gen X and Y Singaporean,
42.6% of Gen Ys, i.e., teenagers and young adults, surveyed preferred the internet as a medium for getting news and information as compared to newspapers (25.2%). For the Gen X (defined by some as those born between 1964 and 1976, now in their mid 30s to mid 40s), it was the opposite – about 50% preferred newspapers as a medium as compared to the internet (about 23%). I in the Gen X and prefer to read newspaper.
