Yesterday hands on on grouping of member to google.com. It is quite useful for trainees when having PBL. Trainees can interact with each other and come out their solutions. This may be one of the media for connecting them and a lot more for me to learn and explore.
Technologies may be good, can get thing done faster, but face to face interaction is getting lesser. People are communicating through e-mail even they are family or colleges just cubical beside you.
Some even become impatient during face to face communication.
U have correctly point out the challenge of overly use of new media in training. As we get more IT in our life, the human aspect of communication will be degraded. Hence, it is important to generate a hydrid system using both new media and face to face. For Example, the report writing and discussion can be done online. but end of day, u can arrange a face to face for final confirmation and discussion on the project. The final portion will be the oral presentation. Remember, one of the SAF Leadership Competency Model (LCM) is Communicating to influence, hence the development of this aspect must be taken seriously.
