Note taking is not an easy job. Imagine you got to take down note for may 3 hour, will you miss any important point. It need collaboration to complete the task.
It need some IT gadget eg. MP3 to record for reference.
Too bad, can't record during meeting.
Our trainees are given a laptop each, are they using it for learning? No, on facebook, e-mail and gaming. Control is needed mor they will fail their test.
Its good to embrace technology but as what I have posted in my blog, I also do mentioned that policing is a very important factor. If we do not police, not only will they fail their test, they may also learn something out of the doctrine if they "hear say" from their peers and by the time you realise it, it will be too late. If the software does allow, go in and do a screen capture monitoring at random timing to monitor the trainees.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is here to stay, we have no other choices. Like what Wee Peng said, policing is important to ensure that people do not misuse the technology. Having said that, given the kind of tech landscape we are in, we just have to trust that these group trainees are self directed as this current generation need a different mode of learning compared to the previous generation
ReplyDeleteTechnology is here to help us and not to replace us(luckily)..Like taking minutes, I guess in high level meetings, we still see a person beside Prime Minister taking notes when he meets leaders from other countries. Perhaps, it is because we do not do this on a frequent basis therefore we are not good at it. Imagine you we do this as a primary job. I am sure we will definiately be much better.
